Cornwall is popular for its excellent beaches, which are perfect for both those wanting a peaceful and relaxing holiday and for those wanting to surf. North Cornwall in particular is home to some of the best beaches in Cornwall.

Bossiney Beach (also known as Bossiney Haven) - (2.5 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Small sheltered sandy beach, which is relatively quiet compared to many of the other beaches. There are some little coves below the massive cliffs which are some 300 feet tall. 15 minute walk down to the beach.

Strangles Beach - (4 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
A secluded and quiet sandy/shingle beach with dramatic scenery. Steep walk down to the beach and some sections of the beach are sometimes used by naturists.

Trebarwith Strand - (5 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
The long stretch of sandy beach is broken up by large slabs of rock. The picturesque beach is situated at the bottom of a deep valley. It is popular with families and surfers. It is important to note that the beach is completely covered at high tide for several hours.

Crackington Haven Beach - (5.5 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Popular beach sheltered by 400 ft cliffs. The beach is a mixture of sand, rocks and shingle. With plenty of rock pools.

Tregardock Beach - (8 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Secluded beach where caution should be used near the cliffs which are unstable. Accessible only on foot from a lane at Tregardock.
Surf Info: Suitable for experienced surfers.
Millook Haven - (10 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Only accessible by a footpath. It is a peaceful pebbly beach notable for the zigzag cliff face.

Widemouth Bay - (12 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Popular large sandy beach with good surfing and parking/facilities close to the beach.
Surf Info: Suitable for all surfers - it is excellent for beginners.
Polzeath - (16 miles) - NON-TIDAL BEACH
Blue Flag Beach 2007
A super family beach with a large expanse of sand, which has excellent surfing.

Crooklets Beach - (17 miles) – NON-TIDAL BEACH
Blue Flag Beach 2007
Small sandy beach, popular family beach and is a well regarded surf spot.

Daymer Bay - (17 miles) - NON-TIDAL BEACH
The beach is within the mouth of the Camel Estuary so is quite sheltered. The beach is bordered by dunes and sandhills. In the summer the beach is not very good for surfing, but is a good surf beach in winter when storm conditions exist. Is an excellent beach for swimming.
Summerleaze - (17 miles) - NON-TIDAL BEACH
When the tide is out there is large area of clean fine sand. The sea can be dangerous, so it is better to swim in the sea-washed bathing pool near the cliffs. This (free) open air swimming pool is surrounded by dunes on one side and canal on the other.

Sandymouth Beach - (18 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Large beach with pebbles but also has lots of sand at lower tides when it connects up with other Bude beaches. Rock pool wildlife can be seen here.
Surf Info: Suitable for all surfers- it is excellent for beginners.
Duckpool - (20 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Romantic little cove at the end of Coombe Valley, favoured by many for its little sandy beach flanked by the spectacular peak of Steeple Point. Not really recommended for swimming, which can be dangerous - especially 2 hours either side of low tide.

Trevone - (24 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Narrow sandy and sheltered beach, which is excellent for families as it is patrolled by Lifeguards.

Harlyn Bay - (25 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
An excellent family sandy beach as it is wide, spacious and sheltered. Great place to swim.

Booby’s Bay - (26.5 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Wide sandy beach with rock pools. Beach is completely covered at high tide. From the beach are fantastic views of coast to the north and the south.

Constantine Bay - (26.5 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
Sandy beach is backed by sand dunes and has a few rock pools. At low tide- this beach combines with Booby’s bay.
Surf Info: Well regarded surf spot. Suitable for experienced surfers.

Fistral Beach - (30 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
In Newquay, the very heart of the British surfing scene. The beach is a wide expanse sand but there is only really a beach at low tide.

Watergate Bay - (30 miles) - TIDAL BEACH
At low tide the beach at Watergate Bay becomes a vast expanse of unbroken golden sand backed by high cliffs. One of Cornwall's popular surfing beaches.
